Ever wondered why Los Angeles natives look so good? It might be because they’ve been visiting the best organic stores in town.

But fear not. Unlike those hard-to-find nightclubs that are usually hidden away down some darkened alley in Hollywood, organic health food stores are open to anyone and everyone. You just need someone (us) to point ya in the right direction.

Los Angeles is home to young, athletic doers who want to stay as fit and healthy as possible. As such, it’s no surprise to find that plant-based lifestyles are on the rise here. From cute community-based stores to Mediterranean-inspired mom-and-pop shops, there’s something here for everyone.

Come join us as we take a look at where you can do your next organic food shopping in LA. You might just find your next obsession.

Erewhon Market

Described as being “like a Whole Food’s on crack” and a “millennial’s Disneyland,” by some very happy customers, Erewhon Market is literally everything: It’s a juice bar, a salad bar, a hot foods market and a grocery store.

It’s also a popular celebrity hangout.

It’s a bit on the expensive side, but you’re really paying for the quality here (as well as a potential celebrity cameo or two).

Clean food, gluten-free produce and selfies with a movie star? It’s all going down here.

What else? The market has its very own Erewhon Standard that every single item on their shelves has to meet before it can be sold here. Therefore, you know it’s gonna be gooooood.

Online shopping? Of course

Address: 7660 Beverly Blvd A, Los Angeles, CA 90036

Urban Radish

Urban Radish describes themselves as an “upscale grocery store.” Here, you’ll find artisanal cheeses, specially curated sandwiches, cereals, and lots of organic produce. Yummy.

It’s a mom-and-pop shop that sources all of its food ethically, and this extends to its seafood and meat selection.

Popular dishes in the eatery, meanwhile, include the refreshing kale salad, the divine avocado toast and the blue cheese burger. This eatery serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day of the week.

Yes, we’re salivating, too.

What else? Organic craft beer is available.

Rainbow Acres

Colorful health food store Rainbow Acres has been around since the seventies. It remains an absolute gem for anyone who’s interested in improving their diet. Their wellness staff are all fully trained in various disciplines, from nutrition to holistic health.

If you fancy a chat about anything health and diet related, Rainbow Acres should become your go-to store.

You’ll also find here a real community vibe, as well as an ace menu, which includes a variety of freshly prepared sandwiches.

What else? There’s a juice bar that sells fresh and cold pressed juices on the daily until 8 PM. FYI, the maple almond shake sounds amazing.

Online shopping? No.

Co-Opportunity

A community-owned market, Co-Opportunity has been around since 1974. Back then, it was founded by a group of health-minded locals, and it continues to be run by the same principles today: Good, organic eating that’s locally sourced.

For just $25 a year, anyone can join and become a part owner of a thriving market that sells natural and organic food to the LA community. There are plenty of deals and savings to be had, including a 10% off bulk sale every first weekend of the month and new organic produce deals each Wednesday.

What else? A blog keeps you up-to-date with all the latest events, including volunteering initiatives.

Online shopping? Yep.

Good Life Organics

Sam and Mark Sirota founded Good Life Organics almost ten years ago, and it’s their love of a good old farmers market that’s really shone through here. All their food is sourced from local farmers, and it’s all 100% organic.

Plus, we’ll hold them to their claim that their fruit is the ‘best tasting fruit’ around.

Essentially, this is a home delivery service where you order a box of fruit and veg and get it delivered to your door. The boxes change each week, but as I’m writing this article, this week’s selection includes kiwi fruit, baby spinach, celery, and red leaf lettuce.

The idea is that you and your kids get as much fruit and veg into your diet as possible the easy way.

What else? Shopping at Good Life Organics also means you’ll be supporting local schools, charities and sustainable agriculture.

Address: 11024 Balboa Blvd #27, Granada Hills, CA 91344

Online shopping? Absolutely.
